Bill
Way is the only remaining member of the original News-Talk 101.5
staff. Bill was with the station on its first day of
broadcasting in September 1993. His "It's Your Turn"
program has been a defining element in the 101.5 format and a key in
the station's commercial success.
Bill's work in a talk format extends all the way back to WJAK-AM
when JAK was the rock radio of Jackson. In that format Bill
Way introduced "Area Code 901" the local caller-driven
show.
That show, after an ownership and format change at WJAK, reemerged
on cable television with TRTV Channel 6 on Jackson Cablevision.
Bill left TRTV and that organization attempted to continue the
program with other hosts, it was not the same and th e show and it's
successors did not survive.
Talk radio provided Bill the extended talk opportunity that has
continued to grow. Beginning with an hour-and-a-half (7:30
till 9 a.m.) "It's Your Turn"
now carries a full three-hour morning slot (8 a.m. till 11 a.m.).
Bill's diverse interests, from singing, to travel, to animals, to
business and politics are reflected in the diversity of his show and
his ability to pontificate on most any subject. "Not
always right, but never in doubt," has become the expression of
the Way persona.
Bill and Susan Way have two adult daughters, both married, and are
on the way to having their first grandchild.
