Kathy Usery

With thirty years experience in media advertising sales, I am truly blessed to work in a field that has been such a great experience for me. I began my career in radio as a Marketing Consultant in March 1979 at WCLE in Cleveland Tennessee. After sixteen years in radio, I accepted a position as Local Sales Manager in Cable Television Advertising for Charter Media, managing in East Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama for ten years. I transferred back to my hometown of Jackson and have returned to my favorite media, radio. I consider it a privilege to have had the opportunity to work for News/Talk 101.5 FM for the past three years. (My favorite job ever!)

I attended Cleveland State Community College and Union University with focus on Art and Communications. Personal highlights include having been commissioned to create a Children’s Safety Book, which was distributed statewide in Tennessee to Kindergarten through Six grade students. The book, which I wrote and illustrated, is called “Amby Ambulance”. Completing two 26.2 mile Marathons (Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon) was also an accomplishment I am proud of (my times were 4 hours and 13 minutes the first one, improving to 3 hrs and 52 minutes the second marathon).

I have a daughter named Missy, a beautiful Physical Education teacher and a talented son, Marty, a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep and Musician. Also one beautiful granddaughter named Lily Ann and a really cool grandson named Hunter. Plus I have a great pet, my dog Sox. Things that I enjoy include spending time with my family, reading, gardening, cooking, traveling and doing creative art-related projects. And of course, working with the talented, hard working and fun crew at WNWS.
