Jonathan Palmer, age 17, of Gadsden, was transferred to be tried as an adult today following a hearing in Madison County Juvenile Court. He is charged with Aggravated Robbery and is being held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
An investigation by Jackson Police has determined that Palmer and Perry Coleman, age 23, of Jackson, entered the Varsity Market at 367 Oil Well Road on January 15 around 9:30 p.m. They had hoods pulled up over their heads. Palmer was wearing a ski-mask and Coleman was wearing a bandana. Palmer approached the clerk with a handgun and demanded money while Coleman acted as the "look-out". After receiving money both men fled on foot.
Jackson Police arrested Coleman on January 27 on Foxworth Drive in Jackson and arrested Palmer on January 28 at the Humboldt Police Department.
Coleman continues to be held at the Madison County Jail in lieu of $100, 000 bond, as he also faces charges for the January 22 armed robbery of Little General at 3804 N. Highland Avenue.
Palmer and Coleman are scheduled to have their cases heard by the Madison County Grand Jury in May.
