Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

Jackson police received a call to a residence in the 200 block of Fairmont Avenue. Adrian Bonds, 20, of Jackson told police that his cousin and another man who he only knew as "Duke" had came to his home. Bonds' cousin claimed that he had left some personal property in Bonds' car earlier. Bonds confronted "Duke" when he began ransacking his car. The two were standing on opposite sides of the car when "Duke" shot at Bonds. "Duke" attempted to shoot at Bonds' a second time, but the gun misfired. Bonds' cousin and "Duke" left the scene.

Investigators identified "Duke" as Darren Taylor, 29, of Jackson.

He is charged with Attempted Murder and will be formally arraigned

Tuesday, May 26 at 8:00 a.m. in Jackson City Court.

Taylor was currently out on $100,000 bond and awaiting trial where

he is charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated

Rape. This stems from a July 1, 2008, incident that occurred in

Jackson where he is alleged to have abducted and raped a 21-year-old Bethel Springs

woman.
