Man Found Guilty in 2009 Home Invasion, ShootingAndra Taylor

On Wednesday, Andra Taylor, 40, stood trial in Madison County Circuit Court, Division II. A jury found him guilty of aggravated burglary, employing a deadly weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony and two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Taylor was free on $100,000 bond; however, upon the guilty verdict, his bond was cancelled and he was taken into custody. He will be held at the Madison County Jail pending sentencing on March 5 in Circuit Court. He faces a sentencing range of 9 to 14 years in prison.

BACKGROUND:

July 16, 2009, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Taylor entered a residence in the Hermitage Apartments in the 100 block of Old Hickory Blvd. He shot Freddy Jones, who was then 52-years-old, once in the stomach, and then fled the scene.

In October 2010, Investigators with the U.S. Marshal's Task Force in Jackson developed a lead on Kemp in Illinois. Jackson Task Force Investigators contacted Illinois authorities who arrested Kemp in Piatt County. He was extradited back to Jackson.
