Around 1:45 a.m. today Jackson police received a call from a woman that someone was breaking into her home and shots were fired at a residence in the 200 block of Old Oak Circle. As police responded, Officer David Dreblow saw a red car speeding away from the subdivision. He followed the car as it pulled into
a convenience store on Kenworth Boulevard. Officer Dreblow called for back-up.
When other officers arrived, they found three occupants. The front seat passenger had reclined the seat back and the back seat passenger was crouched down attempting to conceal themselves. Police identified Tarrance Fuller, 24, as the driver; David Fuller, 19, as the front seat passenger and Bernard Ridley, 20, in the back seat. All men are Jackson residents.
Simultaneously, police responded to the house where a 33-year-old woman reported that while she and her boyfriend were lying in bed, she heard noises and realized that someone was in her home. She grabbed her gun and shot multiple times, down the hallway, in the direction of where she had heard
someone. The woman told police that someone shot back at her at least once, but no one was struck. Upon checking her house she and her boyfriend found the rear door had been kicked in; however, she never actually saw the intruders. Upon further investigation, police saw that the occupants were sweating and had
grass debris on their clothes. Police searched the vehicle and found two revolvers in the glove compartment. One had an altered serial number and the other was reported stolen in Lexington during a March residential burglary. A sawed-off shotgun was found in the back seat.
The men later admitted to investigators that they were armed and had broken into the Old Oak Circle home. Police found scales, commonly associated with measuring illicit drugs, and marijuana residue inside the home and believe this is the reason why the home was targeted.
Police have charged the men with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon with an Altered Serial Number, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. They will be arraigned in Jackson City Court Wednesday morning at 8:00.
