MCSD Involved in a Car Chase

On or about June 11, 2009, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies were attempting to arrest Sarah A. Munoz, age 26, of 553 Old Hickory Boulevard, Jackson, TN, on a Violation of Probation warrant at 27 Craven Cove, Jackson, TN.

The investigation revealed that when deputies arrived, Ms. Munoz left the residence in a 1996 Ford Explorer. Upon pursuit, deputies attempted to stop Ms. Munoz in the vicinity of North Highland and Old Humboldt Road. Refusing to stop, she continued driving to Interstate 40 then westbound on U.S. Hwy 412. In the pursuit, she attempted to ram two deputy’s vehicles. The Tennessee Highway Patrol deployed a tire deflation device in the vicinity of Hwy. 412 and Poplar Corner Road.

A short time later, Ms. Munoz was taken into custody and formally charged with Reckless Endangerment, 3 counts of Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, 2 two counts of Disobeying a Traffic Control Device and Violation of Probation.

Emilano T. Martinez, age 45, of 71 Wallace Road, Jackson, TN, a passenger in the vehicle, was also taken into custody and was formally charged with Resisting Arrest.

There was a 7-month-old infant in the rear seat of Ms. Munoz’s vehicle. The child was not harmed and was turned over to the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.
