14-Year-Old Girl Dies from June 3 Drowning Accident

June 12, 2012, Jackson TN - Jewel Forman, 14, died around 11 p.m. Monday at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

She had been at the hospital in critical condition since she was pulled from the swimming pool at Regency Apartments, 818 N. Highland Ave.

The investigation has concluded that there was no criminal activity and the death is determined an accident.

RECAP: Around 5:10 p.m. on June 3, Jackson police were called about a drowning. The investigation determined that Forman and her 13- year-old cousin climbed a wall that enclosed the apartment swimming pool. Forman entered the water alone at the shallow end and made her way to the deep end. She went underwater and the 13-year-old girl went for help. Family members told police that the girls could not swim.

Neither girl lived in the apartment complex.
