Fourth of July Crash Fatality

July 5, 2012, Jackson TN -- Fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Wednesday, July 4th at around 3pm near Royal and N. Parkway.

The Jackson Police Department is investingating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Wednesday around 3pm near Royal and N. Parkway. Timithy L. Wood, age 47 of Jackson, was operating a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle east on N. Parkway. Awal Khalid of Memphis was operating a 2007 Chevrolet was on N. Parkway and had stopped in the outside lane to turn into a private lot. Khalid was waiting for Gillard to exit the lot in order to complete his turn. As Gillard started across the eastbound lanes of travel he crossed in front of Wood. Wood, who was in the inside lane, made contact on the driver's side of the pickup. Wood died as a result of the injuries received in the crash. No charges have been filed pending further investigation.
