Afternoon Fire Destroys Assisted Living Home
August 8, 2012 Madison County TN -- Around 2:30 PM a 911 call came in from a resident of the 
Submitted by Tammy TateJackson Independent Living Center.
According to Madison County Fire Chief, Eric Turner, upon arrival fire fighters entered the residence and began to search and clear the building of residents.
Three residents were discovered with injuries, one fatality and two with smoke inhalation.
During the course of the search the fire continued to spread and soon was out of control for fire fighters. The men were forced to evacuate the building and take a defensive position around the building perimeter.
The assisted living center is a total loss.
At the time of this story the names of the victims were not available.
Madison County firemen remained on the scene for several hours to clean up and extinguish hotspots to prevent flare-ups.
