Community Blessing Ceremony Planned for Kirkland Cancer Center Groundbreaking

The West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation invites you to attend a Community Blessing Ceremony on Thursday, August 23rd, 7 p.m., at 720 West Forest Avenue in preparation for the groundbreaking of the Kirkland Cancer Center the following day.

“This event is to allow the faith community to gather and not only pray for the future work of the Kirkland Cancer Center, but to celebrate the addition of this center of healing to West Tennessee,” said Kirkland Cancer Center Advisory Board Chair Anita Kay Archer.

The ceremony will take place on the site of the new Kirkland Cancer Center and will feature music provided by New St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church Choir and the Jackson Choral Society. Local religious leaders scheduled to offer prayers and scripture readings are Reverend Dan Camp, Pastor Ben Mandrell, Dr. David Powell, and Dr. Darryl Coleman. Cancer survivor Patty Lewis will also share inspirational thoughts with attendees as candles are lit in remembrance of those lost to cancer.

Foundation President Frank McMeen states, “We want to pray for the staff, physicians and those who will be served daily by the Kirkland Cancer Center. By hosting this event we hope West Tennesseans will join us in asking The Great Physician to bless this work before the first mound of dirt is turned on the physical project.”
