Two Men Sentenced in 2011 Kidnapping, Burglary and Robbery

Today, Jordan Curry was sentenced to 44 years and Deangelo White, 21, Curry, 19, and Clark 19 were convicted following a two-day trial that concluded on July 12 for a 2011 attack on a Jackson couple. The jury found Clark, White and Curry guilty of two counts of especially kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and evading arrest.


Clark and Curry additionally were found guilty of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

The sentences were handed down today in Madison County Circuit, Division I, following a sentencing hearing. A third co-defendant, Grico Clark, will be sentenced in Circuit Court on Monday Sept. 17

Around 2 a.m. July 11, 2011, Jackson police received a call that a man was tied up and being help at gunpoint. Officers arrived at Park Place Apartments on Boardwalk Cove and saw two men sitting in the victim's car. The men ran and officers gave chase. Officers were able to take them into custody after a foot pursuit. They were identified as Clark and White.

White had a bag of marijuana in his possession that weighed approximately 25.1 grams.

A 31 year-old- Jackson woman told police that the two men, Clark and White, along with a third man, had approached her and a friend at her residence in Park Trace Apartments.

They forced them inside her apartment at gunpoint. They duct taped and tied the man up.

They struck him multiple times in the head with a rifle. They threatened to kill him if the woman did not give them money. She told them that she had money at a relative's apartment at Park Place. They took money from the woman and forced her at gunpoint to take them to the other apartment while the other man continued to hold her friend at gunpoint. The woman went inside and notified police.

With the information that the man was still being held in her apartment, police immediately went back to Park Trace and set up a perimeter around the apartment. A man suddenly ran from the apartment armed with an SKS rifle. He was apprehended after a foot pursuit and identified as Curry. Police went inside the apartment and found a 25-year-old Brownsville man who had been tied up. He was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he was treated and released for lacerations and contusions.
