Jackson, TN (Sept. 25, 2012), On Tuesday the Madison County Sheriff’s Office presented checks, totaling over $10,000.00 from the Sheriff’s Office Drug Fund. This fund is generated through fines and forfeitures and paid by individuals that have been arrested and later sentenced for drug violations.
The funds can only be used for:
A. Local Drug Enforcement Programs;
B. Local Drug Education Programs;
C. Local Drug Treatment Programs; and
D. Nonrecurring General Law Enforcement Expenditures.
The sheriff’s office chose to donate to our local agencies; Aspell Recovery Center, $5,000.00; and Youth Town of Tennessee, Inc. $5,100.00. These agencies provide drug education and treatment.
This is our way of helping pay for drug treatment to those individuals that are poisoned by drugs provided illegally to our citizens.
Youth Town was chartered by the State of Tennessee in 1962 and was originally known as Tennessee Sheriffs’ Youth Town. Aspell Recovery Center was chartered in 1979 to serve indigents, alcoholics and drug addicts.
