Grant money approved for the Sheriff's Department but they want you to know it's not about quota's, it's about saving lives.
The grant was recommended by Gary Deaton and the financial management committee but Commissioner Adrian Eddleman had questions about how the money would be used. That was a question the Governor's Safety Director was more than happy to answer. After the meeting Director Kendell Poole talked with Keith Sherley

Poole emphasized the department's mission is about saving lives through education and enforcement.

Commissioners made no secret of the fact that the meeting would be brief. There was a Cardinal baseball game to get home to watch.
Archivist Tom Aud was recognized for Archivist month. Madison County Archive Department houses over 190 years of documents and records pertaining to Madison County history
Commissioner Jerry Bastin told the body the Jackson Mad. County Library Director had resigned and LSSI, the management company, was actively searching for a successful applicant to fill the position. Nothing was said about how the position is being currently managed.
Finance Director Mike Nichols told the commissioners no appointment has been set to meet with the Commissioner of Finance but they hoped to soon have a telephone conference to discuss the lag the county has experienced in sales taxes behind the state average
Nichols also gave what he called a Financial Minute report, something he said he would regularly provide to give commissioners a "snapshot" of the financial picture of the county.
Commissioners consolidated items 8-30 of board and committee appointments into 1 item and voted by acclamation to approve all.
Seven grant approvals were combined to make one item and approved.
The body adjourned and the commissioner quickly dispersed
