Dear Mr. Bateman:

As you know, the Jackson-Madison County Library Board held a special called meeting on November 5, 2012 to discuss the management and operation of the Library. Pardon the formality, but to honor the Notice provision in the contract between LSSI and the Board, please accept this letter as written notice that the Board voted to terminate the contract between the JMCLB and LSSI effective close of business on March 8, 2013, or such time as the JMCLB and LSSI may otherwise mutually agree.

The JMCLB also voted to return the operation and management of the Library back to the Board via a director to be later chosen by it.

The Board also voted to request that the "rollover" material funds in the amount of $95,070 be removed from the LSSI budget, and to request the return of those funds from LSSI to the Board within 60 days. please let me know when LSSI sends the check so I will know to be expecting it.

Also, I recognize that LSSI likely has concerns for its employees here in Jackson. In that regard, the Board voted to retain all present employees of the Library as employees of Madison County, at their option. To plan for that endeavor, the Board will need access to the present payroll information for each employee, including name, title, pay rate, and average weekly hours. With that information, we can move forward with budgeting and planning for the transition. If you would send that information to me directly (email is fine), that would be helpful.

The Board very much appreciates LSSl's willingness to assist with the transition and I hope we can work together to make the change as easy and efficient as possible. Thank you for your past, present, and future service and cooperation.
