Investigators Look For Suspects in City's 13th Homicide

Nov. 15, 2012 JACKSON TN - At 4:58 p.m. Thursday, Jackson police were called about a shooting outside a duplex on the 100 block of Lealand Lane. 24 year-old Devon Staten of Jackson, suffered a gunshot wound. Staten was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Staten's girlfriend was approached outside her apartment by a masked man during an apparent robbery attempt. She screamed, and Staten came outside the apartment. He was then shot.

Police believe two men were involved. They were both described as black men, dressed in dark clothing, in their late teens to early 20s. Both were last seen, on foot, headed south on Lealand Lane.
