The Greer Campaign Invites Community to Celebrate Fathers at Banquet

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Greer Campaign will host its Second Annual Fatherhood Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 6:30 p.m. at the STAR Center in Jackson (1119 Old Humboldt Rd.). Nick Pappas, executive director of Youth Town, will speak, and Magi will perform timeless music for guests. Tickets are $50 each or $500 for a sponsors’ table; they are available by calling 731-736-2132 or emailing sandy(at)thegreercampaign(dot)org.

In describing the event, The Greer Campaign Executive Director Sandy Stewart said, “This is an evening of food, music and celebration. We will honor two of our classes of fathers who have completed our 12-week program this year. Having Magi perform and hearing from Nick will make it an inspiring time for fathers and families. Our work for fathers and families and Youth Town’s work to help young men battle addictions serve complementary roles in our region.”

The Greer Campaign, founded by Jabari Greer, will also serve as grand marshal for the Jackson Christmas Parade on Monday, Dec. 3. Greer is a father of four and cornerback for the New Orleans Saints. He graduated from Jackson’s South Side High School and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, where he was a three-year starter at cornerback for the Vols and a three-time national champion hurdler. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills in 2004 and became a starter for the Saints in 2009, the same season the New Orleans team won the Super Bowl.

Greer is passionate about supporting fatherhood — encouraging dads who are single or married to take active, loving, involved roles in their children’s lives, and he founded The Greer Campaign as a nonprofit in 2009.
