Joint Law Enforcement Effort Nets Drug Bust

On January 9, 2013 at 0845 hrs., members of the Jackson Police Department Gang Unit and the Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime / Gang Task Force executed a narcotic search warrant at 110 Griffin Street in Jackson, Tennessee. The Jackson Police Department SWAT Unit executed the entry of the warrant. Investigators seized approximately 44 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and a hand held scanner. A loaded 9mm semi auto handgun was also recovered inside the residence.

Investigators arrested Joe Travis Northern Jr., M/B, DOB / 09-17-76 inside the residence of 110 Griffin Street during the execution of the warrant. Mr. Northern is charged with the following as a result of this investigation; Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Resale, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Mr. Northern will be arraigned on 01-10-12 at Jackson City Court on these charges.

Joe Travis Northern Jr. is a prior Convicted Felon and his previous convictions are Reckless Endangerment involving a Deadly Weapon (04/30/2004) and two convictions for Aggravated Assault (09/16/2002) in Madison County.
