The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced today that the unemployment rate for December was 7.6%. The state began the year with a 8.5% unemployment rate.
The 7.6% unemployment rate remained constant from November. The national unemployment was 7.8%. It, too, was unchanged from November.
The report states that this is the lowest unemployment rate from the state since October of 2008. This month also saw the number of unemployed people to be the lowest since October 2008 with 235,700 people without jobs.
The number of employed people was the highest since March of 2008 with 2,879,600 employed.
