JMCSS -For the benefit of students entering high school as freshmen in 2013-2014, this meeting is important and will be very helpful for parents in making some critical decisions for their student’s high school career. Parents and students, please mark your calendar and make plans to attend. Feel free to bring the student with you to the meeting. This meeting will also be helpful if you have a student that is currently attending high school and is interested in open enrollment and/or magnet options for the 2013-2014 school year.
For the 2013-2014 school year, Jackson-Madison County School System will operate one high school magnet program: Madison Academic Magnet High School. Open enrollment applications will be available for all other high schools within the district.
High School Open Enrollment and magnet school applications will be available at the meeting and are also available on-line at www.jmcss.org, at all of the public middle schools and at the Board of Education School Service Center located at 310 North Parkway.
Students may apply for more than one high school program through the magnet process or the open enrollment process. For students who live in the JCM zone, they MUST submit a magnet application for the health science magnet program, even though they live in the JCM zone. All JCM zoned students will need to submit a magnet application to attend JCM for the 9th grade.
Elementary and Middle School Open Enrollment and Magnet process began January 15, 2013.
Elementary and Middle School open enrollment and magnet applications have been available since Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at each public elementary and middle school, online at www.jmcss.org and at the Board of Education School Service Center offices located at 310 North Parkway between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Parent information meetings for the elementary and middle school open enrollment and magnet school options will be announced at a later date.
