School Leaders Have A Plan

Jackson Madison County Board of Education has released the Strategic Plan on the school website.  This Strategic Plan was a pivotal part of the interview process during the search for a new superintendent.

It begins with this Introduction and Mission Statement

Jackson-Madison County School System’s Strategic Plan builds on the system’s vision and mission for educational excellence and commits its leaders, teachers, staff and the broader community to a shared direction designed to meet the educational challenges of the 21st Century.

It includes clear and ambitious— yet achievable — expectations for our schools and our students.

Together, the vision, mission, goals, and strategies incorporated in the plan are intended to serve as a road map for continuous improvement. It should guide district action, including the allocation of time and resources, while involving the community as a meaningful partner.

The five-year Plan is a forward-looking document. This plan was developed with School District and community input and is based on research and evidence on leading practices from throughout the nation. An annual report derived from the Plan indicators will be generated to gauge its impact and suggest areas for refinement. Monitoring and analysis will yield information that can be used to tailor instruction, student supports, professional development and district and school management.

The Jackson-Madison County School System has defined its vision and mission as follows:

Vision: That all graduates will be effective problem solvers and have acquired the knowledge and skills to be life-long learners and productive citizens.

Mission: To prepare tomorrow’s leaders by providing a safe, caring learning environment, working in cooperation with families and the community and providing appropriate curriculum and effective instruction.
