At approximately 12:53 a call came in to 911 of an explosion and fire at the Exxon Fuel station located I-40 @ Exit 85. A fuel tanker and a vehicle were involved in the explosion. On the ground reports tell WNWS the fire has been contained. Sources tell WNWS that a car drove over the tanker line at the time of the explosion there was also a power flicker at the time which we do not know if contributed to the accident. JPD, THP, MCSD all on scene. Emergency Management Agency on scene. Jackson and Madison County Fire Department on scene. TVA on scene, the explosion occurred right under a major feeder line. Christmasville Road has been closed both ways for a time. Exxon employees were evacuated safely. We believe the tanker driver and the driver of the vehicle are safe.
