On July 22 around 5:23 p.m., Jackson police received a call of a robbery. An 81-year-old man had just entered the vestibule of Kroger on North Parkway when a man walked up behind him and put both hands in each of the victim's pockets.
When the victim turned around, the man told him to "shut up". The suspect took the victim's wallet and ran away.
About 20 minutes later, a black GMC Jimmy pulled up at Highland Express at 2325 N. Highland. Two men entered the business and purchased two 18-packs of beer. One of the men presented the robbery victim's credit card while paying for the beer. The second man told the first that they needed more beer and placed another pack on the counter. The clerk became suspicious and asked to see identification. The first man showed the clerk a U.S. passport that didn't match the name on the credit card. When the clerk questioned him further, he told the clerk that the credit card belonged to his father who was at Kroger.
The clerk voided the transaction and threatened to call police. The two men left the business in the GMC Jimmy.
