Around 10:25 last night, Jackson police received a call from Jackson-
Madison County General Hospital that a gunshot victim came in to the emergency room. A 27-year-old man told police that he had been robbed by an unknown man, while walking in the area of Sweetbay Drive and Sweetbriar Circle.
According to the victim, a man walked up to him, asked for a cigarette then pulled out a silver revolver and demanded money. When the victim reached for the money in his pocket, the suspect shot him. Hesuffered gunshot wounds to the torso and thigh. The suspect then robbed him and ran away.
The suspect was described as a black male, 18-21years old, 5'5" in height and weighed about 200 pounds. He had "zig-zag" braids in his hair and was wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans.
According to witnesses in the neighborhood, a dark-colored Jeep was seen quickly leaving the area after they heard shots.
The victim was recovering in the hospital late this afternoon and last listed in stable condition.
