New JMC School Board Member Jumps in Communisim vs communism Debate

Newly appointed Jackson Madison County School Board member Bill Baxter has put himself in the debate over what is "Communism vs communism". In a recent article in the local paper Linda Higgins wrote about the Anthony "Van" Jones controversy and in her article she referred to "communism with a little c vs Communism with a big C". County Commissioner Gary Deaton raised the article as an issue on the floor of the County Commission and ask that Ms. Higgins be "brought before the (CLB) body to explain herself". Commissioner Deaton expressed concerns over her opinions and indicated that she might ought to be asked to resign her position as official Madison County Historian. This caused others to come to Higgins defense asserting that her opinions about Mr Jones were her right and had nothing to do with her role as County Historian. Now, newly appointed JMC School board member Bill Baxter has weighed in with his own letter to the editor. Mr Baxter was highly recommended to the commission by Commissioner Deaton to fill the vacancy on the school board left by departing member Dave Bratcher. click here to listen to Commissioner Deaton's remarks about Baxter on School Board Click here to read Bill Baxter's Letter to the Editor Click here to listen to Attorney Mary Jo Middlebrooks (comments about Higgins) Click here to read a letter written by a concerned constituent after reading Mr. Baxter's letter Recent articles about the story Jackson Sun Editorial Jackson Sun Editorial Guest Gene Davenport
