Attorneys from the United States Justice Department along with Attorney Richard Fields (Plaintiff), Attorney Dale Condor (Defendant), Attorney Jerome Teel (Madison County), Sammy West (Bi-Racial Committee), Harrell Carter (NAACP), and Representatives from the Jackson Madison County School Central Office, Supt. Dr. Nancy Zambito, Director of Facilities Buddy White, JCM Principal Eric Jones had a "walk-thru" of Jackson Central Merry. According to the attorneys the purpose of the action has something to do with resolving the student assignment issue still lingering in the Desegregation lawsuit between Brenda Monroe Moses et al and the Jackson Madison County School System.
The media was allowed to follow at a distance but not to be close enough to hear the conversations taking place between the attorneys. News Director Keith Sherley followed the processional through the school and outside and took photos. The slide-show below is what was observed. You will see the group gathered before the tour, walking through the classrooms, examining a fallout shelter/basement, and gathering in various settings to confer.
