Police Investigate Saturday Morning Homicide

Shortly after 3:30 this morning, Jackson Police received a call of a man shot. Officers found Mario Morris, 40, laying in the front yard of a duplex in the 300 block of Park Avenue. He was transported by E.M.S. to the emergency room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was pronounced dead about an hour later from a single gunshot wound. Police believe Morris was shot inside his apartment and went outside, where he collapsed and was later found. Morris lived with his girlfriend and her nephew Jarvis Douglas. He is considered a person of interest. He is a black male with a dark complexion, 20 – 22 years old. He is around 6' 0" in height and has a slender build with a low hair cut.
