Urgent - Police are Investigating Shooting of Local Locksmith

Update IV Police continue to investigate the shooting of Troy G. Mitchell, age 44 of Medon. Mr. Mitchell, the owner of Mitchell’s Lock & Safe Company, was at Guardian Courts replacing a faulty ignition switch on a customer’s vehicle in the parking lot when he was shot. Family is gathered at hospital. UPDATE Local Locksmith in surgery listed in CC after being shot in apparent robbery. Police ask public for help. JPD Press Release Statement Approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, Officers responded to Guardian Courts Apartments at 1170 Hollywood to a citizen’s report of a man who had possibly been shot at the back of the complex. Responding Officers found a local locksmith (name withheld at this time) inside a vehicle that he was working on with a gunshot wound to the face. The victim was transported by EMS and is in critical condition at this writing. Preliminary indication is that this was a robbery. A witness reported seeing four black males running east across the courtyard and crossing Hollywood shortly before Police arrived (when they became aware something had occurred). Police continue to investigate whether this sighting was related. We need anyone who has information or saw anything, to contact us.
