Congressman Bryant becomes Magistrate Bryant

Keith Sherley with IN THE NEWSROOM has learned from reliable sources that former Republican Congressman Ed Bryant from Tennessee will be sworn in as the new United States Magistrate presiding in United States Court for the Western District of Tennessee Jackson TN * Edward Glenn Bryant, Ed Bryant, (born September 7, 1948), is a former Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from Tennessee (1995–2003). Born in Jackson, Tennessee, he earned his B.A. in 1970 and J.D. in 1972, both from the University of Mississippi. He later served in the United States Army, teaching law to students at West Point among other duties. In 1994 Bryant won the Republican seat for the Seventh District. In his three subsequent re-elections, he never failed to receive fewer than 60% of the vote. Bryant established a solidly conservative record. He is best known as one of the "House managers" (prosecutors) in the impeachment trial of President Clinton. He has most recently been a partner with the Jackson,Tennessee law firm of Waldrop and Hall P.A. Congressman Bryant will be sworn in at an informal ceremony Friday 9:00 AM in Jackson TN. Magistrate Judge Bryant will be filling the position vacated by Judge S. Thomas Anderson when he was appointed to the District Court bench by President George W. Bush earlier this year. Judge Bryant will serve in the Eastern Division of the District and will have chambers in Jackson, Tennessee.
