Cagle Murder Suspect Released from Hospital

Ricky Steward, 48, the suspect in the murder of Henderson Police Captain Dennis Cagle has been released from the hospital in Jackson and is being held in Madison County Captain Cagle was responding to a robbery call at a Sav-A-Lot near downtown Henderson and was injured during an exchange of gunfire with the suspect. Cagle, 56 years old and a 21 year veteran of the department later died from his injury. In spite of his wounds Captain Cagle still managed to return fire and wound the suspect Ricky Steward. Steward received multiple injuries and has been recovering in a local hospital. Steward along with his wife Cheryl Steward are both charged in the December 10th Robbery and the homicide of Captain Cagle along with facing other charges. Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork has confirmed that, at the request of Chester County, Steward is being held in the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex.
