Teen Arrested for Convenience Store Armed Robbery

Teen Arrested for Convenience Store Armed Robbery Shortly after 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jackson Police received a call of an armed robbery at the Shell Station at 230 Oil Well Road. A masked, man entered the business armed with a handgun and demanded money. He took cash money, cigarettes and cigars, before fleeing on foot. The store clerk gave a detailed description of the robber, including that he was carrying a back pack. Officers quickly responded and began checking the area. Within minutes, a Metro Narcotics Investigator noticed a shirtless man walk from behind a house on Channing Way near Plantation Road. The man was only wearing shorts and tennis shoes. He was identified as Michael Cormier, age 18, who lives on Navajo Cove in Jackson. Cormier was sweaty and out of breath. Officers searched the rear of the house where Cormier had come from and discovered discarded clothing, which matched the robber's. Police also found a back pack containing a handgun, the exact amount of cash taken from the robbery, cigarettes and cigars. Cormier was arrested and faces a charge of Aggravated Robbery. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned Thursday morning at 8:00 in Jackson City Court.
