Holiday Scam Claims at Least One Local Victim.
A black male is working parking lots in the area. He approaches his intended victim and tells them he sees sparks coming from under their car. He tells the victim he is a employee of the store on vacation. He convinces the victim to raise the hood and pretends to inspect the engine area. He claims to see the problem. He fakes a phone call into the store and inquires about a part he says will take care of the problem. He then tells the victim if they will give him the money he will go inside, purchase the part and make the repair.
Of course none of it is true and he gets away with the victims money.
If you are approached by someone with a similar story DO NOT give this person your money. Either get in your car or return to the store and call police.
