Around 2:55 Friday evening Jackson Police received a call of a robbery at Bancorp South, 301 East Main Street.
Investigation revealed that a man entered the bank, presented a note to a teller indicating that it was a robbery and he had a gun. The teller met his demands and he left the bank on foot.
Jackson Police Officers and Investigators responded to the scene. A description of the man was broadcasted over the Police radio.
About 45 minutes later, Officers with the Street Crimes Unit noticed a man, matching the description, walking in an alley off of East Baltimore Street. Upon further investigation, Police recovered money on the man that was later identified as belonging to the bank.
John Ivory Williams, 47, of Memphis is scheduled to be formally arraigned in Jackson City Court on Monday at 8:00 a.m. He faces a charge of Aggravated Robbery.
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the investigation.
