Shortly before 5 this evening Jackson Police received a call of a shooting at 29 Woodmere Drive.
Samuel Bomar, 18, was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital by ambulance with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead around 7:20 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Bomar was in his room with his 18-year-old friend who had been staying there for the past few days.
Bomar's friend was handling a gun that he thought was unloaded. He pulled the trigger and Bomar was subsequently shot and killed. The gun was recovered.
The young man has not been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
