Around 6:20 this morning a Jackson Police Officer was flagged down by a 29-year-old woman near the intersection of North Royal and Preston Street.
The woman told Officers that she was at her home in the 100 block of Rosedale Street when a man knocked on her door looking for her boyfriend who was not there at the time. He forced his way in and insisted that her boyfriend owed him money. The intruder attempted to take personal property from the woman and they struggled. The man forced the woman to her vehicle where a second accomplice was sitting in the driver's seat of the woman's SUV. The intruder pointed a handgun at the woman, threatened to kill her and demanded that she take them to her boyfriend while the second man drove.
At some point, the woman was able to escape the vehicle and flag the police officer down. She immediately pointed to her vehicle that was speeding away. The woman was not injured.
Police were able to locate the vehicle, which had crashed in Lincoln Courts. Investigation led officers to an apartment on Labelle Street where Police took an 18-year-old man into custody. His name is being withheld pending formal charges.
Investigators have identified the second man involved as Dontavious Reid, 19, of Jackson. He is a black male, around 5' 8" and weighs about 160 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on this incident or Reid's whereabouts is asked to contact the Jackson Police Department Violent Crimes Unit at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-425-8477 (TIPS). Submit a cyber tip at www.424tips.org and click on “Web Tips”.
