Today, Jackson Police arrested a 17-year-old Gadsden youth in connection with the January 15 armed robbery of Varsity Market at 367 Oil Well Road. The juvenile had been arrested by the Humboldt Police Department on a related investigation. The youth admitted being the gunman who entered the store with Perry Coleman around 9:30 p.m. that evening. The clerk and witnesses reported that two black males came in the store wearing hooded pullovers and covering their faces. One was armed with a handgun. They robbed the business and fled on foot.
The 17-year old was transported to the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center. A detention hearing will be scheduled with Juvenile Court tomorrow. Perry Coleman II remains in the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex under $100,000 bond.
