Three Juveniles Transferred to Adult Court

Randy Armes, age 17; Joseph Hale, age 17; and Jadarius Franklin, age15; were all transferred to be tried as adults today following a hearing in Madison County Juvenile Court. Armes, Hale, and Franklin are charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Stolen Property, and Impersonating a Police Officer. These charges stem from a January 20 robbery at the Days Inn at 2239 Hollywood in Jackson. Armes, Hale, and Franklin were in Department of Children’s Services custody and had fled the Peabody Treatment Facility in Memphis.  They met up with Kirk Dickerson, age 18, of Memphis, who they reportedly did not previously know, who offered them a ride.  The four were in vehicle that had been stolen at the Raleigh Springs Mall in Memphis. Police were called by the victim in room 125 at the Days Inn at 2239 Hollywood around 4:20 a.m. on January 20. They knocked on his door and said they were “police”. When the mid 70’s age Indiana man opened the door, they rushed in and struck him with a tire tool. They took his wallet and cell phone. They were captured by Jackson Police moments later. Jadarius Franklin also faces charges of Filing a False Report and Felony Escape. On January 20 around 6:30 p.m., Central Dispatch began to receive several phone calls from an Indiana cell phone number. The caller stated that there were several individuals who were armed with firearms and attempting to gain entry into the Juvenile Detention Center at 224 Lexington Street. Police were able to determine that the calls were made from within the detention center and they located the Indiana robbery victim's cell phone on Franklin. On January 24 Jadarius Franklin, Joseph Hale, and a 15-year old Jackson teen were able to escape from the detention center by kicking open a gym door. All three were apprehended by Jackson Police within about four hours of the escape. On February 8 around 5:30 p.m., Joseph Hale and two other juveniles ages 16 and 17 overpowered two detention workers. The 16-year old was detained; however, Hale and the 17-year old were able to escape. Jackson Police immediately captured Hale within a about a block of the detention center because he still had on leg irons due to him being an "ecape risk". The 17-year old was caught later that night. Joseph Hale faces two counts of Felony Escape, Aggravated Assault on one detention worker and Simple Assault on another. Armes, Hale, and Franklin were transferred on all charges. They are being held at the Madison County Jail. Armes has a $100,000 bond and Franklin and Hale both have $500,000 bonds. Kirk Dickerson has a preliminary hearing set for tomorrow morning in Jackson City Court at 9:30 in regards to the Days Inn robbery.
