MIAMI (AP) — A federal judicial panel in Miami is considering whether to consolidate lawsuits filed around the country by more than 300 former NFL players seeking damages for concussions they suffered. The NFL has asked that the lawsuits be merged before a judge in Philadelphia. They have been filed in Florida, California, New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia and elsewhere. Plaintiffs include former stars Ottis Anderson, Mark Duper, Tony Dorsett, Jim McMahon, Lem Barney and others.

The Grizzlies had a seven-game winning streak snapped Tuesday night with a 97-84 loss at Portland. The only other game on tonight's NBA slate has the Orlando Magic hosting Boston.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — State police say Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek (SEHL'-ihk) was a passenger in a car involved in an early-morning DUI crash. No one was hurt in Thursday morning's crash on a highway off-ramp near the team's stadium in South Philadelphia. Police say the car's driver was driving too fast when he spun out and hit a concrete barrier around 2:30 a.m.
GOLD COAST, Australia (AP) — Police issued two traffic tickets to Bernard Tomic (TOH'-mihch) after waiting outside his home while he spoke to a lawyer in the latest episode of a feud between the teenage Wimbledon quarterfinalist and local officers. Australian media reported that officers tried to pull over the 19-year-old Tomic, who did not stop but drove his BMW sports car back to his home at Southport on Australia's Gold Coast. Two officers went inside the house to speak to Tomic, who then sought legal representation, saying he wanted to make a complaint against police.
