BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Western Kentucky has opened the last six seasons against Bowl Championship Series teams, playing Georgia, Florida and Nebraska among others. TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — South Florida's Skip Holtz rejects the notion that the Bulls figure to be barely tested in their season opener against Chattanooga. The third-year coach reiterates he and his players can't take anything for granted after dropping seven of their final eight games following a 4-0 start in 2011. The Bulls view today as an opportunity to begin proving themselves.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — The 300-win club's newest member already is thinking about No. 301. Sparks is tied with former Delaware coach Tubby Raymond for 10th place in career wins.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has cautioned his seventh-ranked Seminoles not to overlook Football Championship Subdivision member Murray State in today's season opener. Fisher says the Racers will present a good test for his squad.
