KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — New Chiefs coach Andy Reid began filling out his staff hiring former Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Pederson to be his offensive coordinator and longtime Jets assistant Bob Sutton as the defensive coordinator. Pederson spent the past four seasons on Reid's staff in Philadelphia, while Sutton had stints as the Jets' defensive coordinator and was their assistant head coach this past season.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has a sprained foot but is probable and expected to play in Sunday's playoff game against Atlanta. Coach Pete Carroll said Lynch got work in practice today for the first time this week and looked fine.
IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have hired Monte Kiffin as the defensive coordinator replacement for the fired Rob Ryan. The 72-year old Kiffin built a reputation as one of the top defensive coordinators in a 13-year run at Tampa Bay which ended in 2009. He spent the past few seasons coaching on his son Lane's staffs at Tennessee and Southern California.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Dale Earnhardt Jr. started a 12-car accident at Daytona International Speedway that essentially shut down a three-day test session. NASCAR's most popular driver tapped Marcus Ambrose turning him into the wall. Ambrose's car bounced back across the track and collected a host of others.
KOENIGSSEE, Germany (AP) — Noelle Pikus-Pace got her first World Cup win since 2004, beating two Germans to the gold medal in a World Cup skeleton race. The American and 2007 world champion was injured before the 2006 Olympics and finished fourth in 2010, after which she retired.
