It was an atmosphere unrivaled by any in recent memory on Monday night as Southside punched there ticket to the boys AA state tournament next week in Murfreesboro by defeating Memphis Sheffield 66-57.Malik Hicks led a very determined group of Hawks with 19 points.Southside led 46-44 entering the fourth quarter when Jalen Barford took over the game with some great passing as well as some timely buckets by Ray Fuller.The highlight of the game was a monster one hand tomahawk slam by A.J. Merriweather from Jalen Barford.Southside will find out Sunday who they will be paired against in the first round next week at the state tournament.Liberty saw a very good season come to an end Monday night in Memphis as the Crusaders fell to Memphis Mitchell 59-42.A close game at the half,Mitchell pulled away in the fourth quarter ending the season for Liberty and first year head coach Terrell Green.TCA had it's season come to an end Monday night in Humboldt,as the Vikings won 70-49.The loss left the Lions and coach Ken Northcutt a game short of making it to the state tournament.
