PRESS RELEASE FROM STEPHEN FINCHER FOR CONGRESS
FROG JUMP - Eighth District Congressional candidate Stephen Fincher today issued the following statement coinciding with his tour of the Milan Arsenal this afternoon and his meeting with Milan Mayor Chris Crider to discuss the issue:
"My visit to the Milan Arsenal has reinforced just how critical a role the facility plays in West Tennessee's economy. Mayor Crider and the hardworking Tennesseans I met with today made the stakes perfectly clear. Shutting down the arsenal and shipping more than 500 West Tennessee jobs to Iowa could deal a crippling blow to the economy of Gibson County and the surrounding region.
"I call on Rep. John Tanner to implore Army Secretary John McHugh, his friend and former House colleague, to intercede on behalf of the dedicated arsenal employees at risk of losing their jobs during these tough economic times. Middle and West Tennesseans deserve strong leadership that will not just create new jobs, but protect the ones we currently have."
