HITTER OF THE WEEK – Alex Liddi, West Tenn Diamond Jaxx
Leading the Southern League in six different categories this week, Alex Liddi was a monster of a hitter. The 6’4” first-baseman led the league in Homeruns (5), RBI (12), Slugging Percentage (1.040), Total Bases (26), Runs (7) and OPS (1.425). Starting the week off in Huntsville, on Monday, July 19, Liddi blasted one out of left field in the
fifth inning. The next day, he repeated this with another fifth-inning homer, and then tripled in the seventh to send two teammates home. When the Diamond Jaxx returned home to face Birmingham, Liddi connected with another homerun, his third in as many games. On Saturday he slugged two more past a befuddled Birmingham. West Tenn took six games out of seven in the week, and was on a sizzling six-game winning streak until Birmingham finally cooled them down on Sunday. Liddi was previously awarded the Southern League’s Hitter of the Week title for June 7-13. Born in San Remo, Italy he has been playing for Seattle Mariners affiliates since 2006.
