KODAK, TENN. (September 12, 2010) - The Tennessee Smokies won game four of the North Division Championship Series at Smokies Park on Sunday night, 5-2. Tennessee takes the best of five series, three games to one, eliminating the Diamond Jaxx from the postseason. Tennessee finished the series with 53 hits and nine homeruns.The Smokies advance to the Southern League Championship series and will face the Jacksonville Suns in a rematch from 2009. The Suns won the title in 2009. Carlos Peguero and Scott Savastano led the Jaxx with two hits each. Guillermo Quiroz was 1-for-3 with his second postseason homerun. Brett Jackson had three doubles and finished 3-for-4 for Tennessee. Matt Spencer was also 3-for-4 for the Smokies. Steve Clevenger was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI's for the Smokies. Craig Muschko (1-0) got the win for the Smokies, giving up just two runs on six hits in six innings on the mound. Muschko struck out four and walked none. Steve Bray (0-1) suffered the loss for the Jaxx. Bray surrendered four runs on 10 hits in five innings. Bray walked one and struck out none. Nick Hill tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the Jaxx and allowed just one hit. Carlos Peguero tripled to lead off the top of the third for the Jaxx and scored to break the 0-0 tie. Scott Savastano reached on an error that scored Peguero and the Jaxx jumped ahead 1-0 in the third. The Smokies tied and took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Blake Lalli singled in Brett Jackson and then Matt Spencer plated Lalli with a base hit. The Smokies took a 2-1 lead after the third inning. Guillermo Quiroz knotted the score again in the top of the fifth inning with his second homer of the series. Quiroz' solo shot to left tied the game at 2-2. Once again the Tennessee Smokies answered as Steve Clevenger hit a 2-run homer to right in the bottom of the fifth. Clevenger's first homer of the postseason put Tennessee back on top 4-2. The Smokies added one more run in the eighth to push the final scored to 5-2. The Diamond Jaxx will turn into the Jackson Generals beginning in 2011 and will open the season in Pearl, MS on April 7th.
