MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - G.J. Kinne threw for two touchdowns and
rushed for another score to lead Tulsa to an easy 48-7 victory over
Memphis on Saturday night.
Kinne completed 18 of 31 passes, throwing for 214 yards for the
Golden Hurricane (3-2, 1-1 Conference USA). He also gained 39 yards
on the ground on 10 carries.
Tulsa never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 14-0 lead
in the first quarter when Ja'Terian Douglas scored on an 18-yard
run. The Golden Hurricane pushed their lead to 27-7 early in the
third on a 2-yard passing score from Kinne to Charles Clay.
Kinne, who had the game's first score with an 8-yard run,
connected with Jameel Owens for a 5-yard touchdown to give Tulsa a
41-7 advantage. The Hurricanes piled up 447 yards total on offense,
while holding Memphis (1-4, 0-3) to 207 yards.
Jerrell Rhodes led Memphis with 62 yards rushing and one
touchdown.
