MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Former Memphis basketball player and coach
Larry Finch is in stable condition at Saint Francis Hospital.
The Commercial Appeal reported that Finch was admitted on Monday
Saint Francis spokeswoman Marilynn S. Robinson confirmed to The
Associated Press that Finch is in the hospital but would not
discuss when he was admitted or what he suffered from.
Family friend Randy Wade said he visited Finch at the hospital
and prayed with his wife and family there.
Wade said Finch's illness is "very serious."
Finch suffered a debilitating stroke in 2002 at age 51. He has
been living in a nursing facility.
Finch coached Memphis from 1986 to 1997. He also played guard
for the Tigers from 1970 to 1973, leading them to the NCAA
championship game in his final year.
