SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Tim Lincecum (LINZ'-ih-kuhm) threw a two-hitter last night as the Giants beat Atlanta 1-0 to win the opening game of their best-of-five National League playoff series with Atlanta. The second game is being played tonight in San Francisco with Matt Cain going for the Giants against Tommy Hanson. PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia's Phillies are looking to take a two-games-to-none lead in their best-of-five NLDS with Cincinnati tonight. The Phillies, behind the no-hit pitching of Roy Halladay on Wednesday, lead the series 1-0. Bronson Arroyo toes the rubber tonight for the Reds against Roy Oswalt (OHZ'-wahlt). MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - New York took a two-games-to-none lead in its best-of-five American League playoff series with Minnesota yesterday. The Yankees stopped the Twins 5-2 as Andy Pettitte got the win. New York has beaten the Twins in eight straight post season games. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Rays are a loss away from being eliminated from the playoffs. The Rays were beaten yesterday by Texas 6-0 and now trail the best-of-five ALDS two games to none. Game 3 is tomorrow in Arlington, Texas. MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - In college football last night, seventh-ranked Nebraska destroyed Kansas State, 48-13. The Cornhuskers are now unbeaten in five games this season.
