KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee coach Derek Dooley says his
Volunteers have been productive and spirited at practice since
their lopsided loss to Georgia.
Dooley says the Vols could use a hundred practices like the one
they had Tuesday. With a bye this weekend, the team worked on
fundamentals like tackling and blocking instead of preparing for an
opponent.
Even though there are already many young Vols seeing playing
time, Dooley is trying to give more freshmen and sophomores a
chance with the first-team and second-team players this week during
practice. He says that will not only help build Tennessee's depth
but also put pressure on the veterans to perform better.
After taking this weekend off, the Vols (2-4, 0-3 Southeastern
Conference) will face No. 8 Alabama on Oct. 23.
