JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Chris Johnson and the Tennessee Titans
are back in the Monday-night spotlight to face the Jacksonville
Jaguars. Last November, Johnson piled up 228 yards in a Tennessee
win but Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew had 177 yards
of his own. This year, both stars are banged up.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz
says the NHL will look into a hit by Washington forward Nicklas
Backstrom on Nashville forward Marcel Goc. Backstrom hit Goc late
in the second period and sent the Nashville player flying headfirst
into the boards. Backstrom was given a penalty for boarding.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Nashville Predators are reassigning
reserve goaltender Mark Dekanich to the Milwaukee Admirals of the
AHL. The 24-year-old backed up rookie goaltender Anders Lindback
for three games during his five-day recall to Nashville.
BRISTOL. Tenn. (AP) - The longtime president and general manager
of Bristol Motor Speedway has died. Jeff Byrd was 60. The speedway
says Byrd died Sunday following a lengthy illness. Byrd had run the
iconic Tennessee race track since Speedway Motorsports Inc.
purchased the facility in 1996.
