KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - According to a letter from Tennessee
officials notifying Bruce Pearl his contract would be terminated,
the Volunteers coach told men's basketball recruits and their
families that a visit to his home for a team cookout would be an
NCAA violation but he would not report it. Tennessee is under
investigation by the NCAA because of recruiting practices by Pearl
and his staff.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee quarterback Vince Young has
missed a third straight practice with a sprained left knee and
ankle. He is questionable for tomorrow's game against the
Philadelphia Eagles.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee coach Jeff Fisher says he
excused Kenny Britt from practice and is giving him the benefit of
the doubt while he gathers information about a bar fight the wide
receiver tried to break up. Fisher says yesterday that Britt was in
the wrong place at the wrong time.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The NFL says Philadelphia Eagles quarterback
Kevin Kolb has been fined $5,000 for a horse-collar tackle in last
Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Kolb used the illegal
maneuver to bring down Falcons cornerback William Moore after an
interception.
